Pools
Heritage Village contains four outdoor pools, in various settings, sizes, and temperatures.
Pool 1 Activities Building — A heated, Olympic-size pool with locker rooms and both inside and poolside showers.
Pool 2 Victor Borge — This unheated pool appeals to lap swimmers, who prefer cooler temperatures. With inside showers.
Pool 3 Shady Glen — A heated pool nestled among mature trees, for those who prefer the shade. With both inside and poolside showers.
Pool 4 Hilltop — A large heated pool with a pavilion for parties, barbecues, and socializing. With both inside and poolside showers.
The River Gardens
The River Gardens provide the perfect compromise for Villagers who want the carefree option of condo living (no snow shoveling or leaf raking), but don’t want to give up working on their own vegetable, flower, or herb gardens. Residents can choose how much land they wish to work, depending on their ambitions.
- Acres of rich, riverfront soil
- Plots of either 10’ x 10’, or 10’ x 20’; $10 for first plot, $5 for any additional plots
- Raised beds
- Accessible plots for the disabled
- Fences
- A shed with shareable equipment, including hand tools, large tools, such as hoes, garden forks, and shovels, wheelbarrows, a vegetable-washing station, and bathrooms
- Leaf mulch available
- Hoses throughout gardens
- Herb gardens
- A monarch butterfly garden
Outdoor sports venues
The Village offers active adults many different sites to engage in outside sports, including:
- Tennis courts
- Pickleball courts
- Paddle tennis court
- Paved walkways around ponds
- Hiking trails within 110-acre nature preserve
- Bocce court
- Shuffleboard court
- Horseshoes court
The Meeting House
The center of Heritage Village life, this traditional New England 1740 house was once the home of famed pianist and entertainer, Victor Borge, and is listed on the Connecticut State Historic Registry. The Village’s administration is located here, along with meeting rooms for residents.
